MaseratiIndy 4,2 L
PRICE ON REQUEST
Maserati Indy was produced in 1,170 copies from 1969 to 1974. Designed by Virginio Vairo, this model is presented by Vignale bodywork at the 1968 Turin International Motor Show as a coupe prototype with two doors and four seats. The name "Indy" was chosen to recall, in a shortened way, the two victories won by Maserati at the 500 Miles of Indianapolis in 1939 and 1940. Equipped with the 4.2-litre Maserati V8 engine with four overhead camshafts, powered by four Weber twin-choke carburetors, the ZF manual gearbox had five speeds. She developed 260 hp for 250 km/h.
The Maserati Indy displays a crazy elegance through classicism in good taste. Its silhouette owes more to unusual measurements for a GT: 4.74 meters long, 1.74 meters wide and 1.15 meters high! Flat, wide and slender, the Maserati Indy takes care of its air penetration with its thin muzzle that houses retractable headlights. Another remarkable feature is the light, which penetrates the vast interior with generous glass surfaces and thin uprights. Maserati lays the foundations for a classic Grand Tourism. Elegant but discreet, high-performance yet comfortable, versatile but distinguished, the Maserati Indy is above all focused on a disconcerting ease of handling and smooth operation that will amaze many.
This 1969 MASERATI Indy was ordered new by Mr. Angelo MENEGATTO, first owner of Italian origin. The car was delivered to him and handed over on September 29, 1969, directly at the factory, a privilege of the time for important customers, which was Mr. MENEGATTO. It was handed to him by Commendator ORSI, partner of the founder Alfieri MASERATI. He had ordered it with the air-conditioning option, but without the power-assisted steering, which was considered "too power-assisted" at the time. The car has always been owned by him, before he handed it over to his grandson Mr. Andréa GARBAGNATI. He inherited it, and used it only once in the context of his marriage, to take his future wife to the Sainte-Dévote church in MONACO. Hence its current Monegasque registration.
He has always taken good care of it, because of the sentimental and family side of this Indy, as evidenced by the last revision invoice, which he had carried out in 2015. The car is in good original and functional condition, and above all, in line with its factory exit. A 1969 real time capsule. All original documents and notebooks are present and come with the car. This Indy will ask only little expense to its new owner. Indeed, a new painting would have to be done to have a car in concours condition. Because of its history, this Indy deserves it.
